About the project

RSRF designed and deployed an all-carrier active fiber DAS at Riverfront Place, the new downtown Columbus headquarters anchored by Synovus, covering the full office tower and every level of the parking garage for AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

BUILDING & CLIENT

Riverfront Place is a new downtown Columbus development with Synovus as its anchor tenant.

Riverfront Place is a mixed-use development at 1329 Front Avenue in downtown Columbus, Georgia, with Synovus as the anchor tenant occupying eight floors of office space above a multi-level parking garage. Synovus is a regional financial services company headquartered in Columbus, and Riverfront Place serves as its flagship corporate location. The building was coordinated through the Cumberland Group, with cellular coverage treated as core infrastructure for a modern headquarters housing hundreds of employees.

PROBLEM

A new headquarters needed reliable all-carrier coverage throughout the office floors and the entire parking garage.

Synovus required dependable in-building coverage for all three major carriers across its office space, and the building owner wanted coverage extended through every level of the parking garage as well. The site presented real sourcing challenges. Downtown Columbus offered limited macro network capacity, which made simply relying on outside signal impractical for a building of this size and density. The project demanded a partner who could engineer coverage for the full building and coordinate signal sources for AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile rather than leaving the client to manage each carrier separately.

COMPLICATION

RSRF engineered and surveyed the system while the building was still under active construction.

The site survey and design work happened during active construction, with floors at varying stages of completion, ranging from bare studs to partially finished space. Exterior glass was not yet fully installed on any floor, which affected signal readings and required careful planning around how the finished envelope would behave. Routing was another constraint: getting from the rooftop donor location down to the stacked IDF closets required close coordination with the construction team, and floor-to-floor sleeves and risers were not yet in place during the survey. The parking garage added further scope, since coverage there meant distributing into multiple below-grade levels served by building telecom closets rather than dedicated IDFs.

SOLUTION

An active fiber DAS built on ADRF equipment, with signal sources coordinated for all three carriers.

RSRF designed and deployed an active fiber Distributed Antenna System built on ADRF ADXV Series equipment, chosen for its modularity and ability to scale across the full office tower and garage. Active fiber allowed head-end equipment to be centralized and signal distributed over fiber to remote units throughout the stacked floors, then out to in-building antennas.

The system was engineered to support LTE and 5G NR. RSRF coordinated signal sources for all three carriers: enterprise-grade small cells provisioned coverage for AT&T and Verizon, while T-Mobile was served through an off-air bi-directional amplifier fed by a rooftop donor antenna. Distribution reached both the office floors occupied by Synovus and every level of the parking garage, giving the building a single coordinated system rather than separate workstreams per carrier.

OUTCOME

All-carrier coverage across the office tower and the full parking garage.

RSRF delivered an active fiber DAS covering the complete Synovus office space and every level of the parking garage, with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all supported across the building. The design accommodated the realities of a building completed in phases, and the system was engineered to scale with the headquarters as occupancy grew. Post-installation, RSRF's Network Operations Center provides ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and support under a multi-year service agreement.
